Thanks to Mark and guys in the band for a great gig at the Hartwall Areena yesterday evening. This arena is quite bad soundwise and at the start of the gig there were some sound problems at least to where I was sitting (quite low, stage right, quite near the soundboard). Anyway I've heard much worse sounds in this hall and after a few numbers it was OK. The sound during the more silent numbers was excellent, although the heavier numbers got a bit distorted, sadly. The music was first class. It was great to see a big name playing in a big hall without the usual stadium antics and letting the music do the talking. Knopfler was in a relaxed mood and the band supported him in a very skilled and professional way. The music made us feel good and that comes from the fingers and attitude of these amazing musicians. For me the highlights were Romeo & Juliet, Done With Bonaparte, Rüdiger, Boom, Like That (loved that glittering guitar sound) and a wonderful Telegraph Road. Thanks again Mark for bringing your music to us and giving me back a belief, that gigs in arenas can be enjoyable, too :)

Though the speakers and the arena acoustics were trying to ruin it all, I loved the show. A very good compilation of songs brilliantly played by those superb musicians - it can be nothing but great! MK with his guitar ... 'nuff said! ;) Thank You Markku!
