Bienvenue au Canada, beau pays bilingue! Martin vient d'inscrire sa critique en anglais, voici cette fois la mienne en français... Assis au premier rang, j'attendais les premières notes du concert avec impatience... Après quelques chansons remarquables de Jesca Hoop, le Grand Patron et ses talentueux compagnons sont entrés sur scène sous les bravos! C'était parti pour 1:30 de Musique jouée par un "Band" majuscule! Des mélodies superbes, des rythmes à vous faire bouger et taper du pied, des guitares qui semblent habitées par des doigts magiques, bref, le bonheur pour tous les knopflériens comme moi... À noter le jeu d'une grande sensibilité du dernier venu dans la formation : John McClusker! Le bonheur existe, il se trouvait sur la scène du Centre National des Arts à Ottawa vendredi soir. Pour finir, un pari: je ne pense pas nous aurons de DVD de la tournée mais un enrigistrement audio (CD et autres formats)... On ne peut pas laisser la version improvisée de Marbletown s'envoler sans trace... Impossible !

I was sitting about 10 rows back and would rate this a five stars out of five. Guitar playing was hot and the interaction with band was the highlight. Building from low ebbs to swinging the whole band into arrangment and back again. It the musicality I came to see and was delivered. The NAC is fantastic for sound and the band responded. Vocals were spot on some tracks and trailing on others but overall great. I loved the new tracks and compositions and band members highlights in these. And Telegraph Road was on the set list and featured a blisetring solo. What guitar did Mark switch to for this one... Ibanez? Last saw Mark with DS here in Ottawa with Stevie Ray Vaughan opening. A memorable night. But in this venue and the appreciation for the focus on composition and arrangement this show stands well beside it. Let's support original music and music the defies categorization..and to the idiot who screamed for My MTV during a great groove build ... I hope he was disappointed as I much preferred the show I saw.
