The concert was at the Bank of American Pavilion, which is basically a very fancy tent on a pier at the edge of Boston. The day time was extremely warm, well over 90 degrees, and cooled off only slightly for the show. We had 9th row seats near center which turned out to be at an excellent angle for most of the show. The sound, at least in our seats was excellent, especially considering it was an outdoor tent. The highlights for me were Hill Farmer's Blues, Sultans and Telegraph (although both not as powerful as prior tours), and Speedway especially as Richard's electric guitar was nice and loud when he comes in (in some other shows it sounds toned down). The big surprise for me was Marbletown. I had read some reviews praising it, but I was not prepared for the extended jam between Glenn and John. It was simply amazing. I kept thinking they were ending, and that they should end because it might get too draw out, but every time I thought that, there was a new twist, up, down, back up again, back down, simply amazing play, and Mark pretty much standing aside to let them take the spotlight. John at one point even plucks the violin strings with his fingers. I went back and listened to some downloads of Marbletown from the European leg, and they simply paled compared to the version now, and the version we heard was as much as 2 minutes longer than some of those versions! During the band intros, Mark made a comment that I had not heard before. It was about how he was impressed with Glenn when he first heard him 15 years ago, only to find that Glenn was having an "off" day on stage! Great show. Looking forward to the NJ PAC show next!
