...just back from the States...pretty jet-lagged as I recall...!
But it was all so nice and relaxed...we were pretty late at the venue but still could find a nice spot against the side wall on the floor...were we had very good sound. I just sat on the ground most of the time and we just listened to the music...! Highlight was another 'Speedway'...!

As I wrote in the review in Vienna, a very good friend invited me to join the fans in Amsterdam. And I did.
I flew to Amsterdam early in the morning and then my friend Joost picked me up from the Schiphol Airport. We grabbed some food and after this we went to the HMH. We met other fans who have already been waiting for the arrival ofthe band.
After half an hour, a black Mercedes was coming. Richard, Danny and Guy came. We had a funny small talk and a few minutes later, a second Mercedes came - with Glen. Glen was very relaxed just like Guy.
Well, after this, we were waiting for our hero - we were waiting for hours and hours. And many other fans joined us.
At 17:00 a black Mercedes came with Mark but unfortunately it went into the Music Hall - so we couldn't welcome our hero.
But we were not so disappointed at all because we'll see a great gig then.
We had a bite together again and then we were waiting until they let us in.
When they did that we ran to the stage because it wasn't seated like in Vienna - thank God. We were lucky we got a great place to stand in front of the stage.
At 19:45 William Topley appeared on stage and played some songs.
And at 20:35 it was show time for Mark. Wonderful - like always.
There were some funny moments during the gig:
After R&J a fan was shouting "Sultans!" - Mark replied: "What, what was that?" The fan tried it once more and Mark: "Yeah, I love you, too" The fan tried it a third time and then Mark said: "Ah, this one, ok, let's go."
Richard sat down to Mark and both got a cup of tea just like in Vienna and thez said "Cheers!" to the crowd.
Danny played more technic like Chad on "Telegraph Road" - (no cymble-hit after Mark´s National solo).
Then I noticed: No Rudiger like in Vienna... Let's see, what will happen?
All the songs were very well played.
The 4th encore was THE big surprise: "Our Shangri-La". WONDERFUL!!! I wanted to hear this song live and now I had. That was sooo cool.
The gig ended around 23:00 and there was a guy next to me who recorded the whole show on video (maybe this will be a great bootleg). My friend recorded this show, too.
At all I was very glad to see my star so near in front of the stage and to be here in Amsterdam.
After the gig we had some beer and then we went back to our hostel. But we were really looking forward to the gig the next day.

What a wonderful night. Mark and his crew were great. I saw them together with my ten year old son Nils, it was his first concert and a night never to forget. We had a great view, the Heineken Music Hall is very nice and intimate. Mark played my favourites, Sultans of Swing and Telegraph Road. They sounded better than ever. I have seen Mark Knopfler before, but this was one of the best concerts I saw of him. The concert was sometimes relaxed but the climaxes came at the right moments. This night he also played 'Shangri La' and that was very nice too. So, it was a great night, Thanks for that.
